i believe his dad is a demon and his mom is an angel...he was supposed to choose which side he fully wanted to be but he hasn't done it yet

yeah..apparently his appearance is that of an angel (light hair, light eyes) , but he thought Rum might hate him if he turned completely into one (something that happened/was said when they were kids),that' why he hadn't made the decision yet and when Rum found out he told him he didn't care whether he became an angel or a demon
