I google search it up, the definition is "a person who records and analyzes someone's psychological and behavioral characteristics, so as to assess or predict their capabilities or to assist in identifying categories of people."

a profiler psychoanalyses the person that commited the crime from the situational context (a rapist only targeting black females in their mid twenties with short hair for example) and compiles a profile of all the aspects they think the criminal inhibits (ranging from location to personality to job to looks to mannerism and personal history/trauma). Then the police can take that profile into account while looking at their suspects and in their search for the criminal in general
this is just what I have gathered from being too much into true crime and watching all kinds of crime shows, please take it with a grain of salt
