Regardless of her reasoning, she gave Annette's abuser access into her life that she did not consent to. In real life, someone reporting to someone's abuser about their wellbeing after they escaped would absolutely be a betrayal, regardless of intent. That's the lens that I look at it from.
I hate that Catherine was reporting to Heiner. But she did say something right in this chapter -- Heiner never loved Annette at all.
I doubt Heiner is going to leave Annette alone. He is obsessed with her and controlling her. Get a job! Stay away from her!
