If you want the really detailed explanation, you can read the long answer. This will help you gain understanding on why what happened, happened. Go to the end for small answer if you just wanna know what his goal is.

He wants to commit existence theft. If you remember that one scene where Miho temporarily possesses the mc, its basically smth like that. You can do this if your vitality that you gave to that person exceeds their own vitality. And if it is equal, it is up to whoever had the greater willpower. Mc originally had 29 vitality. And Miho gave him 27.

For his role of being the phantom, he needs to lower his presence or in other words, vitality. You can’t control the minimum needed vit(20)to be alive(remember, mc originally has 20), and because the other 27 are Miho’s and not mc’s, mc cant control it. So no matter what mc does, he would only be able to lower his presence to 47 which is still quite a lot and not enough to seem like a ghost for his role as a phantom.

So Miho offers the control of the vitality that he gave to mc, but this comes with downsides since if mc dies for some reason, miho wont be able to get back the vit he gave to mc. So as a condition for handing the control of the vit, Miho tells mc to receive 3 vitality.

But why specifically 3? Because thats all he needs to steal mc’s existence.

Miho saw an opportunity to steal the mc’s existence and creates a situation where mc would have to receive vitality.

It seems like you are able to gain vitality here by doing stuff, but not a lot, and, like Miho said, mc shouldve gotten only 1 vitality at most.

However when Miho gave 3 vitality on top of the 27 he had previously given, it should’ve been equal to mc’s own vitality, 30. If you still remember, there would be some sort of battle of willpower (idk how that would look like tho but theyll be fighting for “ownership” of the body). If mc didnt gain any vitality, mc’s existence wouldve been stolen already because he would only have 29. If he had 30, there would be a battle of willpower and since Miho is some sort of prince idk exactly his status but he isnt human, so he would easily be able to overpower mc (thats why I said he only needed 3) But nothing happened. There were no changes.

So Miho hypothesizes that mc had gained more than 1 vitality, which is correct as we can see in his status where he has 62 vitality instead of 59 (in that same bubble he says why is it not 60, but in the previous bubble to this he says his vitality would only go up by 59 if he received 3, idk if this is a tl error or what)

    Tl/dr:
Miho wants to commit existence theft by giving more/equal vitality with mc’s but fails cuz mc gained more vitality than what is possible or what he shouldve gained.

Theres something I forgot to mention, when I said 3 was all he needed, his real intention was to give the mc at least a chance to fight for his body(cuz he got attached with mc) if he did indeed gain 1 vitality (Im not sure how gaining vitality works, and if Miho was sure mc gained did gain vitality. So all I can guess for now is that his mindset was “Instantly mine or I give u chance to fight for it” (since giving 3 would be 29 < 30) if he wasnt sure), as he states when he was summoned in the recent chapter.

But like I said, nothing happened. Miho didnt steal his identity and there was no battle of willpower happening.

While writing this, I remembered the elders asking him why only three, as if they knew that 3 would make the two fight for control, and not instantly give miho the existence. So im guessing they, and miho, was sure that mc wouldve gained 1 vit from mc’s recent activities. But them looking at mc’s vit record seems like they didnt know exactly how much mc’s vit count was. Im gonna guess (again for the nth time) that they probably just estimated. But this also made me realize, it was never stated that they were looking at his vit count, they were most probably looking at his “condition” or the reason why he gained more than 1 vitality.

Id love to see why and who mc is in the future chapters.
