right? like if yall dont like tess you can stop reading it or smtg instead of bitching over here in the comments section…
you really captured what i thought abt tess i dont think she deserves this big amount of hate because i honestly thought its cute? yes its cliche but cliche doesn’t mean its bad sometimes. basically if you dont like dont read it then.
I totally agree! I was reading comments before I started reading TBATE and I thought she was gonna be the worst person in the world but she’s just like a typical immature teenager who’s going through a first love and the romance isn’t even a main focus, so it was like, am I missing something? I thought she would betray Arthur or something in the future but she’s just like a #1 Arthur fan which I don’t really mind at all
Omg I’m so glad they didn’t go down the harem route, SAO ruined harems for me and honestly I started sweating seeing Art’s new sister being introduced during the weird harem plot they had for a few chapters thinking it would be an incest SAO thing. Thank GOD they moved away cuz fr, THAT would’ve made me drop it and not Tess haha ┗( T﹏T )┛
That’s fair honestly, I haven’t made it that far in the novel enough to hate her, and don’t get me wrong I definitely don’t like her that much, sure I think their relationship is cute when they aren’t fighting but I definitely don’t like some of her decisions, my point was just people complaining how they’ll drop the entire series if they end up together or if Tess doesn’t die because I just don’t think it was that deep and even though her decisions, like you said, put Arthur in danger, it more or less adds to the plot whether she’s a good character or not.
And like, if people were that fickle into dropping the series if a characters fall in love (when it’s not the main focus and there to give personality to characters) why are they reading it in general?
The age thing will always be an issue solely because he met her when they were kids.
If he, a transmigrator/reincarnator/whatever with a good lifetime ahead of anyone his new age, wants romance, he has to wait until he is an adult + can meet an adult and engage with *them*, not someone he's known since they were little kids and who was/is unaware of his actual, mental age. Its grim. Even if she doesnt know it.
Yknow that’s actually a good point which I totally agree with, it makes me uncomfortable too but the only reason I would be like, a little bit okay with it, is if he waited for her to be an adult and not because he likes her and is like, grooming, her to be something he wants but rather he likes her after she becomes a woman but even then it’s a little weird.
But I feel like it’s weird no matter who he dates because either way SOMEONE is a pdf file. Regardless of if he meets them at his adult age or not because he’ll still be 30 or more years older or vise versa which would practically be like those 70 year olds who marry 18 year olds.
I’m just trying to not let it get to me so I can still enjoy it lol. Of course the age thing makes me prefer no romance, but if we’re going to get it regardless I can’t let it stop me from enjoying this
Like okay I totally understand where you guys are coming from, I’m not sending any hate or anything, because I do agree it’s cliche and Tess isn’t the best, but I don’t hate her as much as a lot of you do, like I won’t drop it if they get together and honestly I think the romance between her and Arthur is kinda cute, like watching teen love a little bit.
Of course I won’t say any spoilers but I do reference some scenes (that you’d get if you read it, but won’t be spoiled if you haven’t) that way you can see where I’m coming from without being worried that I’d ruin the plot(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
There’s definitely times where she frustrates me, but I really like how she has been patient while also taking the lead knowing he wouldn’t, like she knows he’s afraid and she wants him to see that it’s okay. I also really like how she grounds him, like after he feels like he’s lost everyone and that he’s alone, she’s still there by his side and and he’s willing to do anything to protect her, considering her as one of his family members even if they haven’t been together for long. I also really love her development with his family, like I honestly kinda think they nailed a daughter in law’s relationship with her “lover’s” family (idk what else to call him)
I also kinda like how ambiguous their relationship is, like they’re not together but there’s something there. I’m glad they don’t focus hard on the romance plot but I do enjoy it being there like a nice break from the whole crazy depression fight arcs that TBATE is good at.
I also completely understand the whole weird reincarnation and age thing, but I actually like how they approached it, like rather than typical reincarnation romances where they don’t consider age at all, it’s actually a part of the plot and he hasn’t considered her anything more than a little sister until they grew up. Sure they’re still young, but I’d much prefer this than him, a minor, dating someone his mom’s age (which he literally talks about) and he didn’t date her when they were kids which he totally could’ve, instead they started going down the romance plot when they’re like (16? I don’t remember) in a more comfortable dating age and she took the first step. Even then he’s holding himself back, but it only makes me more excited for when they’re adults and he’ll finally consider it as okay. (I don’t consider it pedophilia that much considering he’s technically a minor too, but I still see where you guys are coming from with that so I am glad they didn’t really confirm the relationship just yet)
But hey maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for romance ┗( T﹏T )┛
Long story short: I don’t mind it that much because the author goes about it correctly in my eyes, and they take a more realistic approach (like of course Tess is more immature than Arthur despite her being older, he technically lived longer while she is still going through puberty, mind and body)
And they don’t focus on it enough to take away from the plot but rather ground it, give readers a break while establishing relationships type thing
Only thing I’m a little disappointed about is that it felt like a harem was going to start and honestly I’d MUCH rather a sole Tess romance plot than a harem plot. Now THATS cliche
Thanks for reading my rant if you did, I just thought people were giving Tess and the romance wayyy too much hate, when yes she’s not the best, but she’s definitely better than people make her out to be and yes I am caught up to the manhwa and read some of the novel and TBATE is one of my favoritesლ(´ڡ`ლ)
