I did a quick search so I might be wrong. But to put it simply men and women kept their hair long because it was seen as a gift from their parents. Also for men cutting your hair was seen as barbaric and made you seem antisocial.
From what I know in ancient times it's a sign of longevity so they don't cut it so they have long lives I think.
Guys I was in the shower and for some weird reason started asking myself why do murim men have long hair? Then I considered maybe because during those times you couldn't trust anyone with a blade next to your head even a barber. Wat yall think?
