Also his character feels inconsistent. Here's gonna blame himself and feel bad about the brother who assaulted him but he's willing to accept Marja possibly being killed/tortured/having to live life forever on the run? Because why? Because Marja said he was ok possibly dying? As if azlak didn't know exactly what the consequences of his actions would be.
Honestly I think it would make more sense if Louie did this out of a desire for revenge. In that, it's the emperor's fault his mom died so Louie isn't going to let the emperor get what he wants (personally killing azlak).
Anyway this is kind of a disappointing direction for the story to take. I was so looking forward to Louie learning a lesson/coming to the realization that sometimes sacrifice is unavoidable, especially when you're the person in charge of thousands of lives. It would've been such a great complement to the bit with Jil and realizing the reality of war.
Please please please please pleeeeassee he can't be this naive forever. At least stop blaming yourself for other people's choices!
