i think (and i'm not defending j.j.'s behavior whatsoever because wtf was that) the author was trying to show us how leo has been treating(?) j.j. in a sense that if we rewind to the first chapter of them having sex and it was just leo demanding things from j.j. and leaving him with a boner and basically leo just having sex for his *own* satisfaction.
