Trust me I struggle so hard with long stories too but this one is worth it, it’s super good let me give you a summary I found:
The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman is a dystopian young adult novel series set in a future society where a Second Civil War has been fought over reproductive rights. The conflict results in a compromise: life is inviolable until the age of thirteen, but between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, parents can choose to have their children "unwound." Unwinding is a process where all of a person's organs are harvested and transplanted into different recipients, effectively keeping the individual alive in a "divided state."
The series follows three main characters—Connor, Risa, and Lev—who are all marked for unwinding but manage to escape their fate. As they navigate this dangerous world, they encounter various groups and individuals with differing views on unwinding. The series explores deep ethical questions about life, death, bodily autonomy, and what it means to be human.
Over the course of the books, the characters work to expose the truth about unwinding and eventually spark a revolution. The series also delves into the origins of unwinding, the societal impact of the practice, and the power struggles it creates.
Trust me it’s super good, and I’ve loved everything this author has made so I recommend checking out his other shorter works if you don’t wanna read this
just finished reading it and it was not to my liking
