The two hands with different clothes at the end are meant to show that they are both still with him. This Author is amazing. You should read her other one here, 'Lovesick Dog.' The main story just finished up, and it was great as well.
I believe this as well but it also felt like it wasn't them so I got scared haha. Also thanks for the recommendation, I'm definitely checking out her other work cuz this one was amazing!
