....meanwhile, In other mangas/manwhas, commenters were more weirded out by the use of the english "brother"/"sister" 'coz of its english connotation (more incest-y even when they're not siblings) and was wishing it used the romanized ver instead 'coz the asian connotation of oni-chan/hyung is more appropriate (less incest-y 'coz it doesn't necessarily mean a sibling, just an older person u're close with but still want to call with respect)
Yea a lot of Asian cultures that I’m familiar with use the equivalence of older/younger brother/sister outside of family. An example is how a lot of girls in China call their bf “older brother”. for english speakers, it’s rlly weird and incesty but in some other cultures, it’s mostly used for older guys regardless of blood relation. (Chinas one child policy made it so most people say older brother/sister outside the context of being siblings, policy ended around 2015-16?)
It’s just better to use the romanized word when it comes to formalities and honorifics. That way we know the context to who someone is. I think it’s best when they use older brother/sister for sibling relationships and the romanized version for relations outside of that.

It's because it doesn't really translate 100% in English there isn't a word that we use for both brother but also senior boys. They do have words like that in other languages however (mostly Asian )
In the Philippines whe call older boys/girls "Kuya, Ate"
It's time like these that I hate English, but at the same time it's so easy to make fake words yet we don't
