Rai is obviously ML guys kannan didn’t even get screen time till later on in the story (and following shoujo logic that means he isn’t the one) and clearly she feels something for Rai but doesn’t want to acknowledge/doesn’t realize it because Rai himself, is in a way also cowardly with his feelings and encourages her to pursue them.
Girls usually always want what they can’t have and this applies in shoujo too, and it’s not that she “can’t” have Rai but more like he’s the most distant with her rn
