I couldn't figure out why I didn't really like this till I realized this was made to be aimed towards younger kids.
I don't want it to be explicit or anything but I just want her to throw the tray of food to the ground or have a cold expression as she insists that she never ever wants to get married while the prince genuinely looks sad.
Tbh if we got actual angst, then a time skip where she did infact get to enjoy a few years of being free I could see her coming back ready to be a queen because she "grew up". Like maybe her and the prince did fall in love but she's honest and tells him if they marry she'd grow to hate him over time so instead he just let's her go.
Or even if a random cousin popped up so he could give up his position as crown prince and they could get married as aristocrat's who mainly live in the country
