I get what you mean. But I don't think high school there would allow calculator. And knowing the basic timetable, like until 9, is important for higher multiplication so
No but I mean in smaller grades you'd be tested on multiplication in order to pass and they wouldn't allow a calculator, so I don't get how he got to this grade without knowing basic math. Also knowing how to do multiplication is pretty handy in day to day life, so I feel like most people know up to 12s
