Previously the story mentioned that the world has separated when he went back in time so this is technically anither dimension his brother the one who "died" is still "dead" in the other dimension this is simply another timeline and version of his brother, buuuuut it has also been mentioned that an evil force has kept his brother alive in the other dimension so he wants to save him too buts it's still his brother but in the past which changed to another dimension after time travelling
