i think because red head's dad is jealous of ML family being richer, something like that, and red head's dad always compares him to ML
I understand that he didn't like Shin since the beginning and was forced by his father to be friends with him. Kind of keep your friends close but your enemies closer, so that's why he's trying to know his weakness
