Here in France, it's not , you'll be sanctioned differently for coercion and rape, if anything at all. Rape is strictly defined by the forced insertion of something in a non consenting person's body. Even sexual assault is considered lightly and perpetrators are barely punished for it.
I don't know how it goes in Japan so I can even less have a definite opinion on this matter.

I mean, words have definitions and even if you choose to ignore the legal aspect, rape is still the action of penetrating someone's body without their consent, coercion is convincing them to engage in an action with violent/questionable methods, and on a totally personal level, talking to me without my consent is totally raping my ears as You're forcing your voice inside my ears when I clearly do not consent to any kind of interaction x')

Why do so many manga writers jump start their characters "relationships" with r*pe?! The majority of manga readers are women & most us rightly aren't comfortable seeing sa being normalized & turned into the foundation of a relationship.
