bc it’s stupid and the author could have written literally anything else that makes sense for his character at this point. he’s not a sex crime kind of person he’s more of a disappear without a trace kind of person. it felt like it came out of nowhere + every other bl these days has rape in it and people are sick of the shitty fetish writing.
Why must you speculate about a r4pist’s “perspective” to comprehend SA? You seem to have some basic knowledge of it, but completely betray yourself by saying it HAD to be done and praising the author’s use of it in the plot:
“Not excusable, but had to be done.
If it makes you mad, then the author's move was good.”
Adding SA into the story didn’t invoke any strong (positive) reactions, unless you’re mentally unwell, and it certainly didn’t make the story “good” because, BE HONEST, the plot was already shitty to begin with. It’s extremely careless of you to say it HAD to be done because SA shouldn’t be normalized for the sake of “bettering” the plot. In this case, the author FAILED.
Then I'm sorry if that's how understood it. What I'm trying to say is that it the author writing it that way was successful because not only he was supposed to be hated by Hui Jae, but THE READERS hated him too, which was actually the purpose of what happened. And like I said, it was what HE THOUGHT he had to do. That's what HE thought & what HE had done. BUT, NEVER in my life I, ME, would say that it was right & justifiable. I'm not trying to GLORIFY him & what he had done. It's usually how writing works. Me trying to explain/comprehend & express of what I thought how the process of writing was done, doesn't mean I agree to it.
stop giving thoughts to a fictional character that isn’t yours first of all lol. that isn’t written anywhere bc the author knows it wasn’t necessary. it was cheap and shitty writing (like the rest of the story tbh) bc instead of writing anything good they chose such a trashy and common trope such as rape. and evoking emotions in the readers does not equate to success. especially if they’re trying to get the reader to hate ml (why would they do that when they instantly try to redeem him via mc’s acceptance), when in a lot of cases the hate is just directed toward the author and the writing instead. i would say both the author and the ml failed in that regard as mc clearly says he cares about ml even in the middle of everything.
Like the commenter above me said, it really doesn’t matter how you perceive the purpose of SA in the context of a(n) (objectively poorly written) manhwa. And your insertion of your thoughts into the ML’s head to “explain” his act of SA comes off as justifying the behavior. I hope you come to understand that “explaining” r4pist behavior becomes synonymous with “accepting” in the context of a SA. Because there’s no rational alternative understanding other than “SA is wrong in ANY context (fictional, real, imagined, etc.)”
You mention the process of writing — no good, successful writing will introduce a random, unforeseen moment of SA to further the plot/character development/mood of a story. It was sloppy and tactless. R4pe is not just a trope or common theme in BL that’s dangerously normalized, it’s a reality for real people. GOOD writers will handle heavy subject matters much gracefully in their work.
Not gonna stray away from what I initially thought. Mr. Perm had to do it so Hui-Jae can hate him, hence the forcing. It was meant to be forced, it was meant to make Mr. Perm look bad, so Hui Jae can hate & forget him. It wasn't "I LIKE forcing others" kind of thing. Not excusable, but had to be done.
If it makes you mad, then the author's move was good. It honestly made me mad too. But I also tried considering the context. Mr. Perm is a thug hello what do u think he's gonna do?? For him, it really had to be done for Hui Jae to hate him, get mad, & move on. Seems like not dragging Hui Jae was at least his last salvation.
