That’s not the point I was making. Wookyoung keeps talking about he’s not like his family who want to take advantage of and exploit the Illishine, but in the end he’s doing the same thing, just without overt violence. He’s not any better. Soorim is not allowed to leave. He is a prisoner who has had no education. He has been held captive, drugged, and groomed to be a concubine since he was a child. Wookyoung knows that he has a distorted perception of sex, is in an incredibly vulnerable position/mental state, and has nothing else to offer or bargain with.
I’m not saying that he would have been obligated to spend millions of dollars finding Soorim’s mom for free (if she’s even alive), but the offer he made was designed solely to get Soorim to offer up sexual favors. If he was worried about an inequal bargain, he could have given Soorim a job to pay it off over time, etc… The fact that Soorim is a prisoner means he is also incapable of things like getting a job, completing a GED, getting a higher education, all steps that would be necessary for him to accomplish or pay anything on his own.
My point was that Wookyoung was trying to paint himself as benevolent and unlike his father, but the second there was a bot of temptation and a clear opening, he took advantage of Soorim’s desperation, trauma responses, and lack of options to sexually exploit him. If that was the only payment he was willing to accept, he never should have offered.
Just because somebody is desperate and has no better options doesn’t mean another person gets to avoid judgement for pulling some quid pro quo sexual exploitation

Soorim has been imprisoned, abused, and isolated for more than ten years. He is still imprisoned and isolated now, just under better conditions.

Even if we assume it was a legitimate, though seriously messed up attempt at a joke. What kind of sociopath “jokes” by telling their prisoner they can find their long lost mother for them, but only if they receive something of equivalent value in return, while noting that their prisoner has no knowledge, skills, possessions, or money (and no means to obtain any as long as they are imprisoned) that you would accept?

Everything, except for the abuse MC has gone thru, is legit. ML has been refusing ALL of MC's advances this far. He's resisted this far. But at some point he broke. I'm not sure why you would label him as a sociopath. I think you're just hell-bent on painting him in a bad light while the real culprit is out there.
