Meh it's character development. Everyone thought a bunch of characters were ass until authors made them grow as people. It happened pretty early on in a series tho so idk if it's too late for people to accept Derrick.

Also, I just want him to stop being a dick to her. In my eyes reynold and young dude immediately make it off my ship list cause they grew up as 'family'.
