Some would tell you it's because the story is bland , others because the ex-husband is frustrating but mostly because it,s slow
Mainly because it's slow. We all read these to see revenge and yet a lot of it wasn't her plotting revenge but instead about politics and her being a woman in diplomatic situations. The same themes could be addressed at a faster, more satisfying pace.
