I actually don’t mind it. The story was about individuals struggling to love within an oppressive culture, not about a revolution/upturning of said culture. Some stories have the characters adapt their world while others have them adapt to their world. It would have been nice if the toxic laws had changed, but political change wasn’t really the focus anyway. It’s bittersweet, but refreshing
I feel unsatisfied. Maybe because the kingdom’s views on white harts were never changed and the “mating” or “partnership” is still a law and a royal duty. Alta may have escaped because of the prince’s help but what about the other white harts that the kingdom will find in the future? It’s like the main reason for the plot was never resolved at all.
