Personally, I like both: being able to predict and not being able to <3
I like deducing the plot progression thru the various clues (foreshadowing) left by the authors and then waiting to see if I read it right/not and if they add a twist that makes it unique and exciting
Also, like I saw in a comment in Utube, it's kinda like cooking. The basics, ingredients and techniques may be the same (cliche, tropes, archetypes), but it's the execution that make or breaks the food.
I dont read the novel, but I think there are clues
The problems that the MC wil go through maybe regarding Ilya's brother who went missing, like maybe he will join the demons.
Then a plot device regarding the MC's feelings for Ilya, where he is confused but after understanding his feelings, he will go stronger.
Mygoshh it is fine, but I think I might get cringe if they will put MC's feelings as plot device since it is cliche for many stories.
Someone might get trigger because I think it is cringe as a plot device, but it is my opinion though, so no one can command me how I should feel.
