Usually, when both characters are shitty, I always root for the woman, since I am a woman myself, and I can relate to her emotions better. But in this case, I don’t particularly like the MC, so weirdly, ML seems to be more sensible to me (even though he’s not exactly perfect either). I know they are both going to grow throughout the story, but it’s a nice change - to be frowning upon the female character rather than the male one. I don’t like her but I like how her character is flawed in a way that is believable, rather than a one-dimensional or villainous way.
Also, another thought, I wonder what people’s definition of cheating is? In the world there are people in open relationships, polyamorous or whatnot, so in my understanding, cheating is crossing a set boundary between two people who agreed on that boundary. She was semi-forced to enter an arranged marriage, had no love and no relationship with the ML, and seems like there weren’t any rules they set regarding lovers. So sure, on a formal level, she is a cheater, but not on an emotional one? At least not yet, since they still don’t have any relationship.
Uh oh, just started the next chapter and I HAVE to add thar I love how ML defended Selena in front of that potential business partner. Seems like he does care about her in some way and will help her grow in the end. Can’t wait to see that, gotta appreciate couples who bring the best in each other.
