And the art style has changed. I liked the old art style as it was pretty refreshing but I guess it's okay. It'd require some getting used to it. They all look much older now and the crack energy isn't there as much. ( ̄∇ ̄")

Art styles have their own humor just like writing styles ( ̄へ ̄)

Btw, I've always been confused whether the current emperor is a woman or not. Like I get it if she's the real one in power that's why she's called the emperor but her name confuses the heck out of me.

they all have two names (male/masculine one and female/feminine ones)
it's to confuse some gods to not take them away or make them ill as a child (this is discussed in the earlier chaps so I'm not too sure)

the emperor is a woman (and we don't know her middle name yet) and they just use the title on her but it's more likely that empress imply that you marry to an emperor but in here she is the ruler and have male consort hence emperor (and I guess it's also to do with her being the matriarch, they tend to use male oriented titles to not seem weak)

From what i remember on the novel, boys are typically given a feminine name and girls are typically given a masculine name. Or even if it’s not that case, the second(baptized/hidden) name should be opposite of their gender. Its a taboo to have, for instance, a feminine first name AND second name when you’re a girl as it’s believed it could lead to bad things. One character in this story had that happen to them as they had both a masc first and hidden name and they are a boy(or its the other way around?? Theyre a girl and they had both fem first and second name, i dont remember its been a loong time since i last read the novel) and it led to them being “cursed”.

So the emperor being a woman and having a masculine name is actually very normal.

Thank you to both of you. It makes sense now. I didn't remember this fact at all. I just know that the second name shouldn't be divulged to anyone other than their immediate family as a taboo. ( ̄∇ ̄")
