Because destroying an innocent girl's life makes more sense, right? Also, you're judging this twist too early. The story is quite unpredictable, so Illyana probably won't stay like this until the end.

2. With all the accumulated knowledge of 3 separate lives, she reverted back to the worst mentality she’s ever hard: the one from her first life. I don’t know how I can judge it too early. It happened. I didn’t like it.

Despite not liking the first FL who treated the ML like an animal, I kept reading even when I started to suspect that she’d just forgotten it was her actual life and not the life of some random character from a book. Even when I understood what drove her to self-harm, I continued because that was an interesting twist since I thought her mom had been abusing her. But for her to know what she knows and still become her older self, that woman is a straight villain. She was atoning for a sin she didn’t think she committed and yet now that she knows she’s responsible of that sin, she thinks it’s okay to just embrace her future as empress and hasn’t shown actual remorse. The moment she realizes the emperor might still want to take his revenge, she turns to the family she treated like shxt because she thought they were demons her entire life. Nothing about her is likable right now.

1. The MC (who we thought to be a dif person) literally had a traumatic life before jumping into another nightmare.
2. That's the coping mechanism returning, I fear. Now she's connected to Illyana's emotional damage and sociopathic self again, and since she still haven't healed normally (reflecting on her mistakes and learn from it at the same time, not in another life), she's now having an identity crisis or her emotions are simply a hot mess.
3. She's selfish, two-faced and radical, but all for the sake of self-preservation, because she's tired of the vicious cycle she got into in her first life. (I don't sympathize with her, I just understand her point of view)
Honestly, over the last few years, I learnt to rather give a damn about the rawness and diversity of the characters, rather than how likeable they are. After all, we're all here to broaden our horizons and grow into a better person.
1. That doesn’t make her innocent though. I remember feeing so bad for her when the ML started exacting his revenge on her. The only reason I couldn’t hate him is because of how much he’d suffered. But there’s no way that knowing what we know now, I can think of her as innocent. She isn’t.
2. Yes, but she IS Ilyanna. They’re not two different people. Her excuse was her memory loss, but after remembering everything, she didn’t have small lapses. It’s like she erased who she was in her third life to fully embrace her first life self.
3. That can be portrayed in a way that I can appreciate, however it wasn’t the case here. Ive loved characters with similar mindset. I really don’t even like her. Might be the rendition or the order of events that’s the problem, but it is what it is.
Sure, I love layers, light and darkness in characters as well. I don’t love them all though.
Yeah, I get it. Tbh I hated how cold Illyana was to Mag at the beginning. She wasn't thinking logical, she was simply an asshole.
I know her character writing is inconsistent, I felt like choking her blushing, psycho ass a few chapters earlier. But I guess now I'm just happy she's a bad bitch again. Her shallow, stereotypical MC self isn't very entertaining.
Again, I don't like her either. I just appreciate how different her story goes compared to most "villain" manhwas.

First off Iv read the novel and no they have 2 different souls..The OG Illyana and the Current Illyana are not the same if you want I can spoil the whole entire story because I’m going to be honest this manhwa is utter trash compare to the novel but they had to adapt this way because of softies who can’t handle psychological Dark Romance

The fact that she regained the mindset she had in her first life instead of growing from the one she had in her third life is so disappointing and basically reconfirmed her as the villain of her own and Magnus’ life. That’s a drop for me.
