I kinda wish either 1. He was telling the truth and left her alone she thought about it had her feelings but still chose the count or 2. she had internally come to peace with it (still rejects him) then he acts crazy and the count steps in bc although I am proud of her for sticking up for herself she didn’t even really get to go through the growth of that by herself yk she still felt conflicted when she found out how he felt (which totally valid to have those feelings) but idk I wanted her to work them out a bit bf more bullshit came since this is still more about the mc internal journey with her abusers while finding love along the way whereas this chapter kinda felt like him coming in to save her again
