I think they both are in that phase life where gender really doesn't matter as long as there is someone to share life with and end the loneliness....
While both don't really openly admit they are lonely, seeing how our uke took charge of his "daughter" and this seme who is ostracized just for standing up for elders...they need love and companionship and honestly after a point on life that's all we need
This being a bl and romantic comedy has shown this sort of relationship but has this been a slice of life, all of us would have died shipping these two together.
Not questioning why they are suddenly intrested in same sex is not the point point is finding after so long a person whose presence makes you wanna live life and not just go through the motions
It also goes to show that their personalities are not the tsundere types, they don't deny their pleasure...uke does show some concern as to what he is feeling is love or not...but that ship had sailed long ago...

True. The characters are just secure adults. There’s a difference between being unsure about external circumstances and how things may turn out (which is life) and being unsure about what one’s doing, with inconsistencies coming up between their actions, words, thoughts and feelings. Basically if two less mature guys were doing it, their actions and thoughts and feelings might’ve be all over the place, like acting too soon and then doubting it for days if not the whole season, or over-complicating their feelings and circumstance instead of accepting them. But these characters are just a kind of composed/centred you are when you grow up right lol.

So it’s actually good writing
