I literally said, "except" and what can you do? Was I trying to change your opinion? No, right? but you ARE trying to invalidate what I said, so who's the one trying to normalize being so sensitive about other people's opinion? I am stating an unpopular opinion because most people like you will not understand unless they are in that stupid and helpless position. At the very least, you understand that this happens in real life right?
I think it's crazy to call people who don't enjoy rape as a reoccurring theme/trope in BL relationship 'too sensitive'. That's the issue. Your opinion is fine otherwise. Maybe in this manga, it kinda does work as it shows the realities of relationships and yeah, we know stuff like this happens IRL, but with BL as a genre, it's extremely prevalent and happens in almost every relationship between men, and this is sadly normalized. Bottoms saying no, being scared, feeling uncertain, getting out right raped , and it's a good thing more and more people are less desensitized to it. So if said readers are sensitive, then so be it. Better than shrugging it off and saying 'welp, it's rape and we gotta read it and find it somehow hot.'
But readers really are too sensitive. The plots nowadays are just full of sex and unrealistic happy endings because the authors are trying to cater to youngster's preferences of a "non-toxic" love stories. Also, did you read my comment saying, "except the rape& physical abuse part"? My point isn't that you're sensitive for not supporting these plots, but rather that you're perhaps too sensitive to these themes in general, to the point of avoiding them entirely, instead of understanding the story on a deeper level.
But you know what really is alarming and crazy? Is the assumption that when these darker themes like rape are present, you thought that the audience is meant to find them "enjoyable" or "attractive." Rather than thinking that these elements can serve to raise awareness of abuse and manipulation, offering valuable lessons, rather than glorifying such behavior.
There's a way to raise awareness about rape and abuse, and many authors miss the mark. I'm saying the audience is supposed to find it enjoyable and hot because of the way it's presented in yaoi way too often (how hot that the bottom is nervous and the oh so experienced top just does as he pleases) and in a very casual way - almost every story, even the less serious, deep ones, has some sort of moment where a bottom is pressured to do something or says stop, and it's ignored, etc.
I'm not advocating for dark, real life themes to be erased, on the contrary. I'm advocating for more respectful, realistic representation, and for less casual sprinkle of pushing sexual boundaries cause it's cute and quirky and fun. I'm fully aware when you get into a manga/manhwa with an already dark theme that you'll get a dark theme. But the trope I'm talking about transcends the dark/more mature genre and seeps into most ways gay relationship and sex life are displayed. Mostly with no clear communication, no clear boundaries, top just does what he wants and the bottom has to follow along, top is too fast and the bottom is in pain but pushes through for the sake of it, bottom is outright scared, etc. And again, it's presented with all the panting and blushing and the 'your words are saying one thing, but your body is reacting in another/your hole is holding onto my dick for dear life' comments that are supposed to make this somehow hot. That's what I mean.
nah, i still love them (except the rape& physical abuse part). I read this when it first came out and fujoshi's right now are too sensitive. Some people are just meant to be super dumb in love & we just have to let them be
