Now that I read and finished this, I find that him shaving his hair is a good thing. In the beginning I didn't like it, but from a sentimental point he basically left his immature younger self and the past full of doubt and confusion from the both of them behind and started anew, like it's visible in the extra chapters where their relationship is healthier than before. What backs this up for me is that when I saw them as teens on that last page of the last chapter, it brought me back to the sadness I felt while reading those chapters.
So in conclusion, I (at first reluctantly, now fully) support the guy shaving his head.
