Derrick had many chances along the years to care about Penny, and never did. He belittled her at every turn.
Honestly, in my opinion the brainwashing adds nothing. While you can blame this time on Yvonne, she wasn't there the previous six years, so Derrick is the only one responsible for his actions.
Kalisto - you can CLEARLY see how madly inlove he is with Penelope. That look he gave Vinter. Ugghh. The Mad Dog. He will burn everyone down if anythong happened to our girl
Reynold - i rly hated him at first. Esp in the beginning of the novel. But you can see just how much he cares for Penelope. In his own very brotherlike way. Poor boy was so scared he's gonna lose his sister that he was willing to take a chance of some punk he didnt think was good enough for her.
Vinter - I AM STILL ROOTING FOR YOU honestly i know he doesnt have much of a shot anymore but i cant help it. He said they didnt have any more relation but look at him rushing toward her the second he realized what was going on
Derrick - okay i dont like him. But i do feel bad. He cares for Penelope in his twisted way. He clearly wants to know how is she but he cant bc of the brain washing and he doesnt even realize it yet. To be robbed of control of your body is horrible.
Eclise - honestly, i pity eclise. He made a mistake but Yvonne made it so much worse for him. I hope Penelope realizes he was also a victim of the story
