the author is leaving cliff hangers in the ending so you as the reader can interpret what will happen in the future like did the prince and the knight really die or not did they run away.. its an endless possibility with endless endings endless stories so its like you make your own ending... from my understanding ofcourse... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
unfortunately humans crave closure, so unlike in a choose-your-own-adventure series where your choices define the ending, this just doesn't have one at all. which is something human brains don't like much.
