I think its still better this way than remembering all that shit. Would he really overcame all that shit if he remembers all the bad things that happens to him? Rape? Gangrape? Prostitution? He is a human, why not live it more happily with the one who makes him happy. If it happens to you. Do you think you can be happy after all of that?
The idea that a person that has gone through so much in their life and isn’t able to be happy is so harmful to the people that have lived through these experiences. There are stories of people that have lived through these experiences and still found a way to be happy. I never said it was easy but it’s harmful to think that these victims can never be happy again. And it’s harmful to think that the only way they can is if they simply forget about it. This is why there are so many different forms of therapy nowadays. A lot of them are made for victims to cope not to forget but to be able to live their lives as comfortably and happy as they can.
Regardless the author still wrote that eventually Jooha regains his memories but she just didn’t want to write his recovery so she’d rather make him forget everything. Purely from a writing perspective it has a horrible payoff (and also if you want to talk about real life experiences it’s extremely rare for someone to actually go through amnesia)
Yo I agree lol. I mean , it’s cool to see him free of his trauma but like the message portrayed is kinda weird ? Like “he’s too broken so he must lose his memories to be happy”… but yeah I also think that the author decided to take the amnesia path because writing a recovery / mental health journey would be long to write , and I have a feeling author wanted to end the main story faster
Which is so valid. But the reason I’m bringing this up is bc the entire fanbase is gooning over it as though it’s a masterpiece. But it’s not it’s awful and reallyyy cheapens the story down to just smut and fluff when I thought it was a lot more than that. I thought the author could really dive into Joohas mentality and Dooshiks as well bc in the main ending Joohas amnesiac self told dooshik that he really missed the original Jooha but we haven’t seen any side of that. And maybe they will dive into it later but for now just the fact that the author went this route just shows that they couldn’t come up with anything else besides a lazy overdone plotpoint (which RARELY HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE TOO). The side stories reallyyyy ruined the story for me tbh.
The entire story showcases all of Joohas trauma and everything that he’s gone through. Then we finally see that he’s escaped this environment and can live happily with dooshik just for him to forget everything? That’s so stupid
It shows that he needed to forget everything to be happy? Which is just such an AWFUL narrative to have and it’s LAZY. And as we can see he’s not actually happy bc he still gets night terrors yet HE isn’t experiencing it but his body is. It’s almost like the author didnt want to go through the complexity of overcoming trauma and just was like :) ok I won’t let’s make him forget everything. So the entire payoff of the story where we finally get to see Jooha happy feels as though it’s not actually him instead a past version of him? Idk this is so dumb
And for anyone that says “but Joohas so happy now” he could’ve been happy even with his memories and if you think the only way that he can be happy is if he forgets everything then that’s just a lie, it isn’t easy but he definitely could’ve especially with all the effort that Dooshik does for him. That’s one of the reasons why this ending is so stupid. Overcoming trauma isn’t easy to write but it rly showcases that this author doesn’t have the capabilities of actually writing it because they’d much rather take this route.
