Somewhere in the beginning of the story he mentioned that when he was younger he tried to run away, and tried to save his mom as well, but the family punished him or something like that. So he probably saw Miuem with his mother. That or Hajoon told him that his mom is always with a kid.
If you are referring to the current time, he knew who Miuem was as soon as they met in like chapter one. You can see him staring at Mieum's scar on his neck because he knew where it was from.
You had it right the first time, I was talking about when they first met. I was thinking he was trying to get Mieum to stop talking because he didn’t wanna ruin what they had by talking about what happened with his mom. I wonder if he knows that Hajoon was there that day and had drugged his mom???

Jitae cutting Mi-Eum’s hair was so cute. So Jitae definitely knew who Mi-Eum was right? Like I’m wondering if he went to see his mom one day and saw them together, I feel like that’s something that could happen. This is making me wanna reread the whole thing again with new eyes
