Ive read it from novelupdates. The writer did such a good job so i strongly recommend to read. Author just plays with our emotions so good. But in case u just want to read the summary ill write here.

Okay soo, after divorce she lives with catherine family for a while and the country goes to war with france. Annette volunteers in frontlines as a nurse. After learning that she went to war her ex call catherine and gets angry for sending her to her death, but she replies: No she went there to live!
So after working in frontlines for a while she gets order to work in rear and we know who ordered it. She was frustrated there cuz every one was talking behind her back gossiping. In frontlines ppl didnt have such time to gossip so it was mentally easy there for her. So she overworked herself and in stressful environments she collapses. Ex gets her into his base and gets her to rest. They talk and fight a lil bit. Soon army finds a crashed plane there were coded materials there one was a musical sheet. So ex asks her to decode it. She works to do it and she did amazing. B4 leaving she says promise me well never meet again. He says okay.
The capital gets bombed. And other rear areas were taken over by enemy and Annette was there. She bcame prisoner of war with others were locked in a church. She manages to play piano there to calm prisoners specially for a child ( was was traumatizedand couldn't touch piano for 3 years).
Enemy spread fire in the church after locking the doors. But some dude ( traitor in ml's past) opens it ( she learns about ml past from him. And regrets never asking and never getting interested in his past although she loved him). They escape but fl goes back in to help ppl escape from fire n all. Church colapses. Ml learns that she didnt evacuate they reclaim the town and starts resque.ml dugs up collapsed church like there is no tomorrow. Find her under the piano alive. They were taking her to car but ml for sniped in stomach. Both goes to hospital and it took 4 days for her to wake up, left hand damaged ( cant play piano like b4 )
She asks to meet ml but he refuses. She stops rehabilitation and waits for him all day - he comes to her - get angry - they talk - they understand each other ( cuz in their minds they were seeing each other with rosecolored glasses. Ml sees fl as a fragile noble lady never knew what hardship is but in reality she was a strong woman who can handle hardships. As for her she saw ml as a kind man who loved her and wished for him to come back, never knew about his past never thought of asking or communicating. They were both severely broken specially ml)
After meeting in hospital they talked ml apologize and fl kisses him ( it was a symbolic one for forgiveness not love related at all ).
She knits him a scarf and gives it to him. B4 leaving she said we cant be together in the future cuz its too uncertain but lets live in present and heal. She leaves hospital - in train station leaving to check catherine ( cuz the village she was living got bombed too ). She was in the train and was starting to move ml runs in and says I love you. She was happy and says ill write u a letter. They part ways. Visits catherine home but she passed away ( husband child alive).
After some time she moves to a place near sea. She starts composing music again.
Soon war ends ml visits fl during vacation. They start to open up, in love again. Ml wants to be together but fl : No we cant be together yet. Build a contry where we wont be criticized for being together Ill wait for u forever.
After few years he did everything retired from comander position and they have a small wedding in small town. Finish...
