Reynold may seem like he's not fit to be the head but I think he's the most suitable person as he is able to acknowledge his mistake, try to compensate and can kind of see true intention of the scheme if someone guides him and not let his pride blind him. His self conscience is top-notch,, which also explains why he overcame brainwash magic quickly!
