It's realistic that they didn't end up together with all the emotional turmoil, but if you are someone who wants to read a feel good story about a couple who end up together instead of being separated by the end, this is a complete waste of time. I wouldn't recommend.

Yes, endings like this are not BAD in and of itself, but it feels deceptive when you reel in an audience who is clearly reading the comic for the main couple to end up together. Maybe the author should have given a heads up to the audience that they may not end up with each other by the end, OR that this is a story more about healing than romance.

On the other hand, I think it's good Mo didn't end up with Xiao. Mo deserved better than Xiao's manipulative ass. I get that he has a past trauma regarding his past relationship, but I felt like he led Mo on KNOWING what Mo felt for him. He used Mo's feelings to gratify himself and then left him when he felt like it was time for him to move on. I feel so bad for Mo. I empathize with Xiao's past self, but I definitely don't empathize with his present actions.
