I love how they depicted the trauma & abuse Ruby experienced. It may nkt be very accurate but it's true for the part that she doubts Izek's kindness & actions. For someone who only experienced bad things, Izek's warmth & kindness is new to her, while abuse & other people's gossip is already her normal. It may have took her longer than expected to realize it all, but at least she recognized it now, and hopefully it it enough for her to trust Izek & tell him everything.
