His pragmatism facing the difference in power and class instantly separates him from mcs in other stories of the same genre that treat power dynamics as an afterthought. Like we as readers are aware of how ML views extramarital relationships, but MC is fully cognisant that the current state of the their relationship has an exparation date, despite never discussing it with ML. Taking advantage of it and enjoying what he can instead of letting it get in the way of his professional life and spiraling is just so refreshing to see
