Oh yes! That as well. It seems like I haven’t included that clearly lmao sorry. Yeah, a strong mage is probably needed which are hard to find and they are usually high-profiled people. The mother probably doesn’t need to bother finding a way to execute her plans without physically causing pain to the mc since she apparently doesn’t care about her son and want the most convenient solution to her problems even if it harms her own son. What a bitch
She knows what the drug does, incapacitating him is part of getting him under her control. Him constantly being weak keeps him closer and less likely to do things on his own (at least that's what she believes.) And she doesn't really care about him. So long as he lives long enough to be crowned she can marry him off to someone also under her and her family's control, it's still her win because the emperor doesn't do shit.
So, a question have occurred to me while reading this chapter midway. I wondered “why did the mother not used a mage to cover up mc’s omega traits? Is it just so they can villainize her to an extreme extent?” and there might be people who wondered the same thing as me. I fugured that the answer is that mages in fantasy worlds mostly have high reputations and status because they are considered a very useful asset of the state/empire. In other words, most of them are high-profiled individuals and are difficult to control while doctors existing in fantasy worlds where magic is present might be nobodies even considering their skills since one can easily use healing magic. This is why doctors are easier to control and thus the way for mc’s mother to conceal his real secondary gender is a painful one. It actually make sense.
