A Beautiful Tale

This manga was so beautiful and deep on so many levels. The first two chapters are a story about Sudou and Gilbert. Sudou is an unemotional character who doesn't find joy in the work he does as a conductor. His music sounds so hollow and lifeless to himself that he can't even stand to hear it himself. Gilbert is a talented boy who played the violin when he was younger. He was so talented in fact, that his own father seemed to love his music more than he loved Gilbert. So he set his violin aside. It's unclear how Gilbert fell in love with Sudou, but he did. Sudou asked Gilbert to play his violin for him. Upon hearing Gilbert play, Sudou finds his heart reawakened omg with his limbs of music and a desire to completely own Gilbert in every way. He wrote a song called Elysion. The song caused Gilbert to fall into a dream like state and die in his sleep, Sudou quickly followed after his love. I kind of got the impression that in order to play the song, it was almost like a sacrifice of your life, but I found the notion more abstract than anything else. The third chapter is a continuation of the general story concept but two generations further down the line: Sudou and Gilbert's defendants.

Everything about this manga was so beautiful from the story line to the art. I saw a lot of people thought it was complicated. I can understand why so I thought I would write a more accurate synopsis seeing as the one they provided is horrible. I hope everyone enjoyed this manga as much as I did! I'm actually going to go give it a second read right now. It was really good. I hope to find another manga that touches my soul as much as this one does.

Side note: As a violin player myself, I just have to applause their violin drawing skills. I've read other mangas that had violins and this is by far the best drawn.

Its not so beautiful as frustrating. The second generation anyway.
It's obvious that Alpha was sent away so he could be kept away from Sudou (being his key and all. Its somethings about the Lorenz bloodline) yet Sudou still called him back knowing he will end up dying just because he wants the sound of elysion.
And with gilbert's example we know the sacrifice thing is quite literal.
Let me add the one being sacrificed is the key (gilbert and alpha) not the one obtaining elysion. But firmthe original sudou it really was a sacrifice cause apparently he actually loved gilbert. The next sudou is an a**hole who is using Alpha for his own gains.
