What I don't love or appreciate is they used FFVII Tifa Lockhart like some p*rnstar ref (see chapter 11) for this, it ruined the whole story for me. The games of FF are not something I associate with anything of this nature.
To put it mildly, I have a strong dislike for dj works ref non-bl / non-gl works because chances are, those big series/works are associated with my childhood period AND NOTHING ABOUT THEM ARE MEANT TO BE SEXUAL, nor was my childhood memories perverted in any way. FF is supposed to be inspiring! My brain hurt reading this. Everything was good until FVII Lockhart was sexualized and her image was marred in this perversion. As an avid FF fan, I don't think I can enjoy this series, it's not for me and secondly I was very repulsed there was no warning whatsoever that there'll be refs of non-bl/gl works like FF Tifa Lockhart, I was blindsided.
I go through great lengths avoiding anything (explicit HDj) that ref anything non-bl or non-gl works because I simply don't appreciate them twisting the best stories and reducing them into something merely about sexual gratification.
I didn't expect that to happen so I felt disgusted by it. That's my opinion about the use of FFVII in this degenerate manner (I said it, I'm not sorry to defend my stance. The beautiful Tifa Lockhart of FFVII represents a part of my childhood so idc what others have to say).
* tbf I was about to go check this series out and read them in Japanese (raws if there's any) until I got to chapter 11 (my main rant above). I have to drop this. No hate to the creators, the art is so pretty and the storyline is so good that I wanted to read them more.
Had to hit the brakes and reflect on it, and I'm still trying to process what I just read (which leads me to rant here about Lockhart).
Yep, not my cup of tea.
* To the other readers, this seems like a good series (I won't know for sure because I've decided to drop it since it goes against my reading preferences), so to name a few of pros about this series:
- this series seems to suggest this is a japanese vertical comix posted on webtoon, so I'm assuming the creators are japanese since they're referencing many japanese refs I their series (I'm only a bit puzzled why it's not on renta or coolmic since they said follow them on webtoon for the official English, but nvm that). - the characters are all well drawn and pretty, they've also ref many other popular works... That are not originally BL/GL works. Some people might love that, and it seems like the creators are also fans of these original non BL/GL works and so they decided to use them as refs in this webtoon (many jp artists are fans of other jp artists' works so they tend to make fan djs about the fav mangaka/sensei's works - it's a nice culture that appreciate other artists' works by way of Hdj or simply rom djs with no explicits, that I actively avoid like a plague especially anything that has to do with the former - Hdjs ref original nonBL/GL works) - it has a strong otaku culture ref and maid/cosplay style themed cafe ref - the funny ref of BL creator in a mangaka/webtoon - strong cosplaying culture ref (cosplaying culture in Jpn is usually taken seriously by many of the popular jp cosplayers, but I like that the characters here cosplay with hidden motives to mask their fetishes of cosplaying as women/girls. It really adds to the twist in the series, which makes it more thrilling, because you know the characters are not your conventional cosplayers, they're the niche type that cater to other subgroups in the cosplaying culture - something to do with adult entertainment if you go deeper) - Moe culture ref - height and size differences
Cons of this series: - they ref original non BL/GL works and sexualize the characters like FFVII and N:A which is very important because on top of that, they also added the gender bender there, meaning this is explicitly ref other Hdj of the actual original non BL/GL/H works (for actual players of the games like myself, this is a huge turn off) and it goes deep. It's very p*rn*graphic in nature. If any of you are uncomfortable seeing your childhood Disney or universal studio characters depicted in such a p*rn*graphix way, then chances are you'll get what I'm saying about this point.
Me too. It’s not for me. I love FFVII too it’s my childhood. My brother would ask me to plug out ps1 and I will watch while he play. Tifa is everyone’s fav. She’s my first girl crush! But I dont want to ruin the image I have for Final Fantasy ‘cause it holds a special place in my heart.
Real I liked that it appeared there bcs I've never seen it in any other Manga and was happy at first but just Like u said, it got totally ruined bcs she was portrayed in a sexual way
I love the art style and story!
