How is he a groomer? He just saved Leon and taught him how to fight so he can protect himself even after he's gone. I don't see anything like grooming here, it's Leon who is attracted to Cliff.
They are probably confused by the term “groomer” and what grooming actually is. Grooming is raising a young person and building relationship, trust, and bond with the intention of exploiting, manipulating, and using them for their personal desires. Cliff clearly doesn’t have ill intentions.
That's why i said I feel conflicted. Because if Cliff reciprocates Leon's feelings then that makes him a groomer right? Right now everything you said is exactly what cliff did except for the ill intentions. So yeah.
I said this because the story portray Cliff as Leon's lover. If Cliff raised Leon, and became his Lover then doesn't that make him a groomer? Unless he's not really Leon's lover and he's just in a one sided infatuation then I'd be more than happy to be wrong

That's not grooming though. If Cliff had intentions to become his lover once Leon is an adult while he was still a kid then yes, it would be grooming but it doesn't look like Cliff had these intentions. Even if he ends up falling in love later it would still not be grooming because he didn't have any ill intentions when Leon was a kid, he just wanted to save him and protect him.
