It seemed to me more of a parallel drawn showing that while the boss was pretty obsessed with Soohyun due to the Eunsung story and also at one point saying that Soohyun had good talent in this field, he was able to freely let go of him unlike the creepy old man obsessed with Eunsung. It didn't really feel like the boss was ever in love with Soohyun, but that's just my opinion, and i could be wrong too ^ ^
There were hints suggesting his boss lusts after soohyun after the neck bite incident, and such as his wish for his favor being returned by soohyun and he was kinda being suggestive which in the end not ended up happening
