Also, forcing someone to love someone just because that person did something for the other is just toxic.
Penelope isn’t required to return his “love” to her; I thought we as a group of civilized individuals moved past the “if a man did something nice to a woman she required to love and have sex with him” but seeing how people reacts about Eclis I guess not.
(who may I remind everyone that is old enough to think on his own he isn’t a child nor a baby, While yes he a slave, I don’t remember Penelope controlling him in anyway or giving him orders he didn’t want to do; Penelope gave him lots of freedom; enough freedom for him to *sell his own people* (by his own admission btw!) and bring pinky back against Penelope wishes.)
Eclis is obsessed with Penelope and both of them used each other, and putting the blame on Penelope only is just misogyny at this point.
( UWU look at that bitch she manipulated our poor UWU obsessed red flag of a man UWU! He was so nice to her! She should have returned his love because again he was NICE!) (this is a joke btw)
Also, we really can’t blame Penelope about wanting to go back to her world and not detaching her self from the fact that this isn’t a game: the way the system was designed was the reason why she couldn’t get out of that mindset.
yeah bcs the metre is always present from her pov so how could she even look past it? and her "real" life finally had the stability that the game's storyline lacks, why would her primary goal not be to win the game and get out, obv she has to put the game above the characters, its the choice between her actual life and something so confusing as a game on her phone.
I really don't think Penelope doesn't have the right to be mad at eclis just because he was under yvonne's brainwashing when he brought her back, even when he was somewhat out of the brainwashing he just comes to Penelope to recite his fantasy and then tell her he's mad and wil kill her family and her servants because they were unkind to her, how should that elicit kindness from her when he can't even consider what she feels towards those people and the situation she was in. Like i really think her reactions to eclis are justified.
i really dont think eclis considers Penelope as a person, he doesn't care for how she would feel after his betrayal to her. He repeats his dream of Penelope coming to him after her family disowns her, and them living together. Every time he says it as if its such a pure action stemming out of love, its not, his love is obsessive, over the idea of who penelope is to him, he never considers penelope's possible resentment towards him for his betrayal, never considers how she would feel after being disowned by her family, simply wants to live in his happy land with her.
Why do people act as if Penelope has full control over him? he's always acted on what HE wants to do and Penelope is yet to ask him to do something he doesn't want to, when she does ask him for it, he denies.
whenever people talk about penelope's treatment of eclis why is it that only "eclis is the only one that loves her he only sees her, he's devoted and she used him" is considered, what about the fact that both him and Penelope had known at the beginning that he did not consider her his master and that she knew he would become a knight/noble soon enough. I don't think Penelope could've forced herself to love him? How is it her fault she couldn't look past the fact that this is a game and that she wants to go back to her original life and that's why she wants to win the game? Even after his betrayal when he comes to see her he repeats his dream and the people reading the novel are like "i cant forgive Penelope for telling him he's the one who has to die" like she's not allowed to feel resentful towards him, and she's not killing him, she's abandoning him. He has full control over his life he's only obsessed with her, not a robot.
