I think given their physical similarities, it might be the mother's side of the family. What I gathered is that his mom married someone she shouldn't and got a child, got abandoned(?) and found a new abusive husband. So she basically left her side of the family (grandfather and sister) where the money is at. My suspicion is that he is acting as potential heir in this scenario (their pact). I'm assuming the sister (aunt) is childless and is only allowed to get some money from the grampa because she now has a "son" (our ML).

assuming the dads side is the rich one cus there were rumors of blondie being a chaebol it makes sense the aunt is putting on an act to get money cus she’s not part of the family, cus if mums sides rich then she would def get inheritance too, but if it’s dads side, then she isn’t part of the family, so smth probably happened to the mum and she suggested she would raise him
