For me I think he truly loved her. She was his salvation, the only thing that kept him going. I agree that he did her dirty trynna wreck her and all, but I think we should also understand his point of view.
The one he truly loved, after being tortured and driven to death, spoke so lightly of the comrades whom he had to kill because they needed to protect their country.
He truly does love her, he is just conflicted because of what he went through. Let's be honest, if that were us we would also be insane.
But that's just what i think thoo^_^
Was it all worth it, Heiner? Was your revenge so sweet that it was all worth it to lose the woman who loved and cared for you with all her being?
Seeing as he just wanted to break her down, I doubt that he truly loved her
