Well, your comment came across in the same tone as theirs so its understandable they responded that way. Its also because the MC is always overly animated and Askan and others have never seen this weapon before. You usually get extensive training on how to shoot one properly and he just shot it. Her reaction did not seem out of character or dramatic :)
