The boundary part is I think something that we're leading up to.
I think it's okay to pity Kaya for his background and the way he became twisted. Ran seems to be growing in her world of people, with slightly less fear of people than before (gradually), embracing her feelings for Nasu, and not letting her concern for Kaya become an excuse for his selfish behavior (very gradually). People get mad that she was weak and making promises and compromises, but that's literally meant to be part of the original problem that she needs to grow and resolve, which is why we love character growth and development.
So I also really really hope Kaya can have a positive development. I would be kinda sad if his obsession and hurt only gets worse

Totally! I 100% agree with everything you said. I’m so glad that we’re finally seeing some progress in character development for both, Ran and Kaya, but I’m more so hoping for Kaya’s development because it’s crucial and important for him to grow out of his obsession with Ran before it gets any worse.
This chapter was kind of heartbreaking to read… my poor Kaya-kun. He might be twisted, but I feel like I understand where his frustration, sadness, and anger are coming from. Ran-chan never actually set a clear boundary with him from the start, she basically just let him do what he did and dragged him on while being unsure of her feelings for Nasu. Kaya is definitely going to have a good character development arc. I feel it.
