I saw some comments where they claimed they only loved her because of the fair skin she has which im confused about cause she was never dark to begin with. But i might be wrong of my description to what "fair" means. I saw the comments on the reviews not here on the topic section. Do u guys agree????

Fair skin does refer to being light skinned…

Isn’t everyone kind of light skinned here I wonder what the reviews meant by that ??

I have found that there does seem to be a pattern in manga and anime alike, where “fair” or lighter characters are deified. It’s not just the skin (which also is often slightly lighter or overly light for an Asian character), but also the hair is blonde or in this case platinum, and the eyes are a light color, in this case blue, and the character simply seems to be a personification of white beauty standards. And I’ve noticed this is often done in yaoi as well when it comes to the uke, or characters meant to be feminine. Which I’ve always thought was strange since this is seemingly written and drawn by Asian artists. So why so often are the characters regarded as beautiful, or angelic, or soft and feminine coded to meet European beauty standards…. Idk that’s just my take on it. It is hard to not notice the pattern after years of consuming manga and anime

While western beauty standards have a significant influence on asian's (having big eyes, a lighter color etc..) which you can see happening in real life too, being light has actually been a standard for a long time as it was a way to show your standing and wealth since those who tanned were those who worked in the sun so the lighter you were the richer you seemed to be.
